Green Waste Recycling Program - FAQ

What is Green Waste?
Green Waste is brush, tree trimmings, small plants, grass, leaves, palm fronds, etc.

How do I know when my Green Waste and Bulk Collection Day are?
You can refer to the brochure that was mailed out to each resident in May; go to www.buckeyeaz.gov and the brochure with the schedule is on the website; or call 623-349-6100 and our Customer Service Team will answer your questions.

Does the Green Waste Day replace the Bulk collection Day?
No, there is a day for green waste collection and a day for bulk items. Please check the brochure or website for the schedule of your neighborhoods collection day.

Can I place my green waste out with my bulk waste?
No, we are making a strong effort to recycle Green Waste Materials that can be diverted from the landfill and turned into a useable by-product. All bulk waste collected goes into our landfill.

What about grass and small plants and leaves from trimmings? How do I put those items out for collection during the Green Waste Collection day?
Place those items in a plastic or metal trash container no larger than 35-gallons and place next to your bundled tree branches. Please do not place in plastic bags all plastic bags that are set out for collection on the green waste collection days will NOT be collected. The 35-gallon container is supplied by the resident and will be left by Republic Services after it has been emptied.

How much Green Waste can I put at the curb?
Your Green Waste pile can be NO LARGER than 6'x6'x6' or 8 cubic yards.

What happens if I do not bundle my tree limbs or brush?
Republic Services will make every effort to collect your materials, however, for purposes of safety and time we are requiring these Materials be bundled into bundles no more than 3'-0" in length and 2'-0" in diameter.

Will the City have a Christmas Tree drop-off program or does this replace it?
No, the Green waste Program replaces it. Residents will no longer have to bring their Christmas Trees to a drop-off location. Christmas trees will be collected at the curb in January. Please consult the Green Waste collection schedule.

When can I place my green waste out for collection?
The schedule provides you the dates to begin placing your green waste at the curb and the date it will be collected. Typically, you can place the materials at the curb two-three days ahead of the collection date. All Green Waste Materials must be at the curb NO LATER than 6:00 a.m. on your Green Waste Collection Day.

What do I do if I miss the Green Waste collection day?
You may take the materials to the Southwest Regional Landfill located on the east side of SR 85 approximately 10 miles south of MC85. The cost to Buckeye residents is $10.00 for loads less than 500 pounds.

Where does the Green Waste go for composting if it is not going to the landfill?
All yard waste collected during the Green Waste collection days will go to the Duncan Farms Compost Facility located on N. Sarival Road.
